So if you've been in the SEO game for awhile now, you probably know that quality backlinks are the most important aspect to improve your search engine ranking and get your page ranked on Google. Yes on page SEO help, but it far outweighs the importance of good quality backlinks. When I say good quality backlinks, I mean backlinks of high Page Rank (PR) (if you don't know what I mean by this, a Google search) sites related to your niche. You do not want sites with PR 0 backlinks and you do not want backlinks from sites unrelated to what speaks your page (or at least don't want wasting your time trying to get the backlinks from these sites).

Social bookmarking
OK, I probably shouldn't began with it, because social bookmarking sites more are "-follow" (follow a link to your site from a non - site will be disregarded as a Google backlink i.e. it does count). However, I found that bookmarks from a site with the top bookmarking sites can help your site rank. In fact, I had my rank of real social bookmark on the first page of Google in the search for the correct key (whenever that happened, he was with Digg). It is essentially the same exact as step above, but you're creating a Squidoo lens instead of submitting the piece written in an article directory. Squidoo holds great power in the eyes of Google and it is good for the backlinks.
Blog commenting
Personally I find this method more tedious and boring, but some people swear by it. Essentially what you're doing is backlinks by commenting on other blogs related to your niche, leaving a link to your site.
Why is it tedious and boring? One, because I feel it is authentic... you are leaving a comment blog, not because you are interested in blog of the person, but because you want a backlink. Two, many times your comment because not even get approved because the blog owner feels your spamming (they know perhaps the comment is not genuine when you leave your link).
That said, if you do enough of it, you can probably get the backlinks a couple out of it. Thus, Google Dofollow diver and click on the first result. Dofollow diver found only blogs that are follow (remember "no-follow" links I mentioned before... These are instead... these count). Once that you are there, type your keyword or your niche, find blogs and comment. You can either let your keyword as your name in the field of comment, or you can leave a keyword hyperlink in your actual comment. For the highest chance of getting approved comments, I would recommend to write well-written and authentic feedback. Write something that is actually linked to what speaks blog blog!
